What this site is for
The site starts with the work a keeper needs to do: preparing a place, making a routine repeatable and comparing equipment for a specific task. Its checklist, geometric space worksheet and egg notebook are organisational aids. They do not certify a housing design, calculate a suitable flock size or assess animal health.
How the equipment pages work
Equipment notes identify details worth comparing, such as cleaning access, dimensions, opening clearance and fixing requirements. Shopping links open Amazon UK category searches. Results, sellers and products change, and we have not inspected each listing. We do not claim hands-on testing, publish invented review scores or display retailer prices and availability.
Written guidance and sources
The field guides focus on practical planning rather than diagnosis or treatment. Welfare and biosecurity context is linked to RSPCA and GOV.UK guidance. Rules can change and vary by location. Read the current primary guidance and seek appropriate professional advice for the birds and site you have. The site is not endorsed by those organisations.
Illustrations and tools
Our drawings are original explanatory illustrations, not photographs of products or build specifications. The space worksheet uses only entered rectangles. The egg log computes totals from recorded dates; it does not infer missing data. Tool limitations appear beside the controls so they are visible when a result is used.
How the site is funded
Affiliate links may earn a commission from qualifying purchases. They are labelled at the link and explained in the site disclosure. The comparison notes remain useful without opening a shopping link. Read the full affiliate disclosure and browser-storage details.
