Workbench B / rectangular space worksheet

Measure before you move things in.

Enter inside run dimensions, a rectangular coop footprint and an access strip. The worksheet places the coop beside the strip and calculates the remaining geometric area.

Your measured rectangles

The strip runs along the full run length. The coop sits in one corner of the remaining rectangle. You must enter ramps, door clearance and overhangs as part of the footprint if they occupy space.

No measurements are saved. Metres in, square metres out. The drawing stays in your browser.

The area note

Enter your measurements to draw the layout.

Use the drawing to ask better questions

Measure the inside of the enclosure, rather than the widest outside dimension of a kit. Decide where a door opens and how you will reach the house without stepping over equipment. Allow for the ramp, a container that projects from a wall and any maintenance space. Those details are not automatically added by this worksheet.

A number can look generous while the layout still leaves narrow corners or a difficult cleaning route. Sketch those details separately. Compare the complete setup with independent welfare advice, and assess how birds can use the outdoor area when weather or official restrictions change your routine.

The planner does not rotate the coop automatically. Try swapping its length and width yourself if a different orientation could work, then check doors, prevailing weather, access and the actual ground. A result with zero remaining area merely describes the rectangles; it is not a usable poultry setup.
